Bruce Graham

Civil engineer

As well as being a man who loves the outdoors, Bruce has a sharp mind for facts, figures, and physics, and a big heart for sharing that knowledge.

Wellington-born and bred, Bruce joined the capital’s Envelope Civil Crew in mid-2025. With two outdoors-loving uncles on his Mum’s side, Bruce was out learning the basics of fishing and hunting from a young age - often playing with other kids who lived on his street along with his twin brother and older sister.

He thanks many early influences for shaping who he is today, including a Year 12 history teacher and a Year 13 English teacher who generously shared their subject smarts and own life knowledge. A career quiz in a computer lab confirmed not once, but twice, that engineering was the path for him. And so, Bruce says, his future was “sorted at the ripe old age of 14.”

While studying engineering at Canterbury University, he discovered he enjoyed tutoring others - something he picked up again after graduating, supporting both secondary and tertiary students. For Bruce, the best part of tutoring is seeing someone’s confidence grow.

Outside of work, Bruce describes himself as having “a fairly large social battery” and loves to be out and about in the sporting and socialising traps of Wellington. Chill out time is spent with friends – heading out for dinner, firing up the barbecue, or having a wander at the weekend markets.

A healthy week includes time at the gym, a cold plunge and sauna, and some downtime. His kai of choice would be at Tiger Chinese on Holland Street, or local Wellington icon KC Café.

Envelope feels different to other employers, he says, especially with its “homely” kitchen space, bespoke neon signs, and sincere workplace culture. Bruce is excited for what the future might hold, here with the team in Wellington.
