Morgan Armstrong

Project Lead + Senior Civil Engineer

Morgan grew up on a sheep and beef farm in Katikati, just up the road from Tauranga, with an older brother and younger sister who both ended up in construction and engineering too — clearly something in the water.

Add a grandfather who was a civil engineer and another who was a Navy diver, and you can probably guess where the love of problem-solving (and the ocean) came from.

He studied environmental sciences at Otago, chasing that same love of the ocean and the outdoors, before the Recession sent him into construction instead. He worked his way up through the industry, went back and studied civil engineering along the way, and somewhere in there realised solving problems for a living was exactly where he wanted to land.

Only a few weeks into life at Envelope, Morgan already feels like one of the crew — leading project teams through the inevitable curveballs to get the best outcome for everyone at the table.

Outside work, he's in the ocean every chance he gets — surfing, spearfishing, or just being in the water — usually with his wife Charlie and kids Monty and Ella in tow, making memories that (mostly) don't end in trouble.
