Matt Aitchison
Project Manager + Senior Civil Engineer
As a boy, Matt Aitchison spent his time dreaming, and looking at the stars.
It wasn’t until his father told him New Zealand did not have a space program, that he bumped down to earth, in every sense of the word. From then on, and with his father a bridge designer, he wanted to be a civil engineer.
Matt says his grandparents were a huge influence in his formative years – their compassion was second to none, and their principle of ‘doing the right thing’ is something which was instilled in him from a very young age and has stayed with him.
Matt says he has never stopped learning and has enjoyed a varied career in both the public and private sectors in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. He has more than 30 years’ experience in land development.
Outside of Envelope’s busy Wellington office, Matt works on house renovations and dreams of long, languid catch ups with overseas family and friends.
He is also a music lover and enjoys being able to listen in any room in his home - maybe while sipping a cold locally brewed craft beer. The greyhounds the family adopted are ‘great mates’ with personality to boot.
