Sourabh Sajwan

Civil engineer

From Northern India to the North Island capital of Aotearoa, Sourabh Sajwan has already travelled across the globe.

Born in India, he moved to Wellington with family at age 14. After growing up watching documentaries on the Discovery Channel, engineering and architecture appealed most to Sourabh. He graduated from Wellington Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Sourabh started at Envelope’s busy Wellington central office in mid-2025, with his role involving engineering design work on subdivisions. From day one, Sourabh was impressed with the company’s values – and seeing the Envelope crew living them in the office every day. He feels excited and enthused to work on projects in his local community and region.

Outside of work, Sourabh likes to stay active. He loves being outdoors with cricket and any opportunity to soak up some sun being top of the list. Badminton and the gym are also his activity list – and he says he is “always up for an adventure”.

And when summer comes around, Sourabh is looking forward to exploring fishing spots.

Always a car enthusiast, he enjoys watching car racing of any kind, and aspires to own a Nissan Silvia to take to the track and race for the checkered flag.

While his top holiday spot in New Zealand is the Coromandel with its stunning beaches and prime camping spots, Sourabh’s favourite place in the world is the lesser known but equally stunning Bugyal of Uttarakhand, located in the Himalayan regions. High up in the mountains he loves the lush green nature and watching the clouds move and shape in the valley while sipping chai and keeping cozy.
