Sheamus McMahon

Survey Technician

Growing up on Waiheke Island, Sheamus McMahon spent every possible minute outdoors. And his love of being in out in the fresh air, in the water or on the tracks and trails of wild New Zealand has continued to adult life.

After attending school on Waiheke Island and then later in Auckland, Sheamus moved to Wellington to start university. He studied for a degree in geography until he realised it wasn’t for him, then turned to surveying after catching up with a family friend. A diploma in land surveying at Unitec followed.

Sheamus started at Envelope’s Auckland office in September 2023, and has loved working in a place with a great culture and rewarding and enjoyable work.

Outside the office Sheamus always feels the pull to get back into the outdoors. Anything to do with water including fishing, sailing, and diving is top of the list, or he grabs a mountain bike and his mates and heads out the door.

Urban adventures are also in the diary – with golf, and the city’s bars and restaurants featuring. Sheamus enjoys sampling new food and pairing that with a cheeky beer.

Any time he gets word of an impromptu adventure, especially in the “untouched” South Island, Sheamus will be on board. Exploring is in his blood, he says. And he enjoys keeping that adventurous spirit alive both at Envelope and outside work, with no two days the same the ultimate aim
